Valley of Flowers is a UNESCO World Heritage site located in the state of Uttarakhand, India and it’s one of the best tourist place in Uttarakhand. It was founded by British mountaineers named Frank S. Smythe with Eric Shipton and R.L. Holdsworth.
These mountaineers lost their way while returning from Mt. Kamet in the year 1931 and found this beautiful valley. After its discovery, many botanists have visited this place to study the distinct variety of flora.

Valley Of Flowers Trek – Best Tourist Place in Uttarakhand
The trek to Valley of flowers starts from Gobindghat which is about 272 kilometers from Yoga capital of the world, Rishikesh. From Gobinghat, there is a 12 kilometers trek to a place called Ghangaria.
Ghangaria is the base location of two famous treks – Valley of Flowers(VOF) and Hemkund Sahib.
Hemkund Sahib is a Sikh place of worship and pilgrimage site in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand. There are a lot of Sikh pilgrimages one could find during the trek from Gobindghat to Ghangaria.
VOF is just 3 kilometers from Ghangaria. Visitors need a permit from Forest department at Ghangaria to enter in the valley.
VOF is the most rewarding trek for nature lovers. Magnificent hills, picturesque valley, soothing sound of water streams makes one feel out of this world.
Best Time to Visit Uttarakhand – Valley of Flowers
VOF has covered with snow during the month November to March. The trek opens on the first week of June till September. The wide variety of flora blossoms after the monsoon (August mid till September).
So, the best season to visit this beautiful valley is from June to September. Avoid visiting this valley during rainfall in the month of July.
Valley of Flowers Timings (Opening and Closing)
VOF opens at 7.00 am in the morning and last entry is allowed till 2.00 pm. The last time to stay inside valley is 5 pm. One should reach at the entry gate at 6.45 so as to take entry ticket and enter by 7.00 am. This way, one could get more time to explore this beautiful place.
